Nyoka, Nioka, Blukwa
Compact body with small to medium hump, moderate size dewlap and short to medium horns; manifest more of the Sanga (Bahima) than zebu features; coat colour is red, red-pied, brown and black; thought to have some level of trypanotolerance; used mainly for meat, but also milk and work (Rege and Tawah, 1999).
Found in eastern region of the DR Congo, in the Upper Ituri, covering Nioka, Mahagi and Djungu areas (Rege and Tawah, 1999). And west of Lake Mobuto, North-eastern part of DR Congo (http://dad.fao.org/en/Home.htm)
Developed out of the interbreeding of the Lugware and Nkedi Zebu with various Ankole strains of sanga in the region of eastern DR Congo.
